AN ORDERLY AND RECORD-BREAKING BLACK FRIDAY FOR APPLIANCE AND ELECTRONIC GIANT, HIRSCH’S.

Black Friday, which originated in the US in 1951 on the day after Thanksgiving to kick start the Christmas spending season, was extended by big retailers this year to allow promotions to get them through to the end of the year – and into a successful trading year in 2021.

Hirsch’s, the largest independently owned Appliance and Electronics retail outlet in South Africa, with nineteen branches and concept stores spread throughout the provinces of Gauteng, KZN and the Western Cape, reported great trading during November – culminating in a successful, yet calm Black Friday.

Commented Founder and Chairman of the Hirsch’s Group, Allan Hirsch. “Black Friday this year was practical, peaceful and most pleasant! I’m not sure if this is because it was more of a Black November which levelled things out, or if it was because people just didn’t want to queue. Whatever the reason, it was incredibly successful for Hirsch’s and we were approximately 50% up on last year for November. It really has been a phenomenal trading month. We had magnificent growth online and the number of visitors to our stores was evenly staggered throughout the days. There was no mad rush and chaos. We anticipate an equally solid trading month in December.”
